Welcome to Islands Energy Group (IEG) and thank you for choosing to use our customer portal to manage your account.

This portal is for use by the customers of the Islands Energy Group which includes Islands Energy Group Limited, Manx Gas Limited (trading as Isle of Man Energy), Guernsey Gas Limited (trading as Guernsey Energy), Jersey Gas Company Limited (trading as Island Energy), Kosangas (Guernsey) Limited and Kosangas (Jersey) Limited. The portal is owned and operated by IEG on behalf of the members of its group.

The use of this portal is governed by these terms and conditions, please make sure you read them carefully.

All of our terms and conditions contain words which have specific meanings, these words are capitalised. To understand their meaning, please see the definitions set out at the end of these terms and conditions.

These are our latest portal terms and conditions, dated 28 May 2024.

1.1. These terms and conditions, our general website terms and our privacy policy govern your use of this portal only. These terms are separate to the terms and conditions which apply to any service or product we provide to you.

1.2. By using the portal you are agreeing that you have read and agree to these terms. If you don't accept the terms, please don’t use the portal.

2.1. To use this portal, you must be a metered gas customer with one of our companies in the Islands Energy Group.

2.2. To set up an account on this portal you need to be an account holder, that is a person named on the bill. If you have joint names on your bill, you will need to select one of you to be the account holder on our portal. If you are eligible, you will need to set up an account yourself and choose a password.

2.3. If you are representing a corporate or business customer, you warrant that you are an authorised representative of the business, you have authority to set up the account and you have authority to utilise the portal in the name of the customer.

2.4. You can access your account through this portal at any time. Use of the portal is free.

2.5. You are responsible for the actions of anyone using your account, with or without your authority.

3.1. When using your account, you mustn’t:

    a) use it for any unlawful reason or purpose;

    b) create or impersonate another person or misrepresent your or their authority to act;

    c) introduce any viruses or other malicious code;

    d) undermine or attempt to undermine the security or integrity of the computing systems or networks relating to or associated with our portal;

    e) attempt to gain, or allow others to gain, unauthorised access to such computing systems;

    f) attempt to decompile, or reverse-engineer any part of our portal or to obtain unauthorised access to the portal or any parts of it that are restricted from general access or which you do not have access to as a user; or

    g) transmit any material in violation of law or rights of any person, including material protected by copyright, material that is threatening or obscene, material that is defamatory or material protected by trade secrets or privacy.

3.2. If you choose to pay through a payment service made available through our portal or through our local IEG website, their terms and conditions will apply separately to the payment service.

3.3. You must have an internet connection to use our portal and we are not responsible for the cost of any connection, nor if our portal does not function properly because you don't have an active internet connection. You accept responsibility for any charges incurred for connecting to the internet, including mobile data roaming charges.

4.1. You will be able to access information such as your current bill and some of your historic bills. You will be able to update your email address, mobile/landline number, postal correspondence address and your email/SMS marketing preferences. You will be able to change your portal password. The portal will also provide links to our online forms for common tasks such as paying your bill, submitting a meter read or moving home.

4.2. We cannot guarantee that all features will be available on the portal at all times.

5.1. You must keep your own devices and systems secure.

5.2. You must keep your log in details including your password safe and must not share them with anyone else. We will never ask you for your password. The safety of your password is your responsibility. If you know or think someone knows your log in details, please change it immediately through the portal.

5.3. We will use appropriate protections and systems in accordance with good industry practice to ensure the portal is as secure and virus free as practically possible. however, we cannot guarantee that our website or portal will be secure or free from bugs or viruses and you are responsible for configuring your own devices and systems to access our site. You should use your own virus protection software.

5.4. Please notify us immediately if you think or know that someone else has used your account.

6.1. We can make changes to these terms, this portal and how it works at any time. We can also suspend or terminate the portal or your account at any time.

6.2. You need to read the terms and conditions regularly to make yourself aware of any changes. If you use this portal after any changes have been made, your use will be deemed to be acceptance of the changes.

6.3. If we believe that you haven’t complied with these terms, we can also terminate your account or suspend access to it. We do not need to give you notice of this and if you cannot access your account for any reason, please contact us. Just to be clear, suspension or termination of your access to your account on our portal will not affect the supply of your chosen products or services from us.

7.1. We take the privacy of your personal information seriously.

7.2. We will use your information in accordance with our privacy policies.

7.3. Our privacy policies explain your statutory rights and how we collect and use your personal data. They describe the processing activities that are carried out by us in relation to your contract, the purposes for which these activities are performed and the legal bases that we rely upon for these processing activities. These processing activities may include, amongst other things, the use of your data for the purposes of undertaking credit checks, sharing payment history with credit reference agencies. invoicing, managing your contract and instructing the Direct Debit payments due under your contract.

7.4. Our privacy policies can be found:

7.5. We may update our privacy notices from time to time to ensure that they are always up to date and accurate. Any changes we may make to our privacy policy will be posted on our website.

8.1. We do not exclude any liability which we cannot exclude by law.

8.2. We won't, under any circumstances, be responsible for any liability resulting from your use of the portal including but not limited to:

    a. any financial loss, damage or expenses, such as loss of profit, income, business, contracts or goodwill;

    b. any loss, damage or expenses whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with (i) your use of, or inability to use, our website or portal; or (ii) your use of or reliance on any content displayed on our website or portal. This applies even if we, or anyone acting on our behalf, didn't follow these terms;

    c. any statement, warranty or representation made by any person other than us in respect of these terms;

    d. any breach of these terms that is caused by events beyond our control;

    e. any indirect loss or consequential loss;

    f. any interference or damage to other equipment in your property caused using our portal

8.3. We do not warrant or represent that the portal or your account is complete, current, secure or free from errors, omissions or viruses or that it will be always available or uninterrupted.

8.4. We cannot guarantee that our website or portal, or any content in them, will be available at all times or be uninterrupted. We will not be liable if they, or any part of them, are unavailable for any period of time.

8.5. If there is a discrepancy between a bill accessed through the portal and a bill issued to you via other means (such as email or post), the bill issued to you via other means will prevail.

8.6. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter in your account through the portal. We are not responsible for a transaction or the failure of a transaction where the data you enter is inaccurate or you do not complete the transaction.

8.7. You agree to indemnify us against any claim or claims, whatever they are or however they come up, in connection with our products and services. You will not be liable for any claim or claims which come up as a result of our deliberate default or negligence.

9.1. A person includes a natural person, corporate or unincorporated body (whether or not having separate legal personality).

9.2. A reference to a party includes its personal representatives, successors or permitted assigns.

9.3. A reference to a statute or statutory provision is a reference to such statute or provision as amended or re-enacted and a reference to a statute or statutory provision includes any subordinate legislation made under that statute or statutory provision, as amended or re-enacted.

9.4. Any phrase introduced by the terms including, include, in particular or any similar expression shall be construed as illustrative and shall not limit the sense of the words preceding those terms.

9.5. A reference to writing or written includes emails.

9.6. There are certain other terms used in these terms which have a particular meaning and here’s what we mean:

    • Force Majeure Event:
    • Any circumstance not within your or our reasonable control, which may include any of the following events as well as others:

      • acts of God, fire, lightning, flood, drought, earthquake or other natural disaster;
      • epidemic or pandemic;
      • terrorist attack, civil war, civil commotion or riots, war, threat of or preparation for war, armed conflict, imposition of sanctions, embargo, or breaking off of diplomatic relations;
      • nuclear, chemical or biological contamination, explosion or sonic boom;
      • any law or any action taken by a government or public authority, including without limitation imposing an export or import restriction, quota or prohibition, or failing to grant a necessary licence or consent;
      • collapse of buildings, fire, explosion or accident;
      • misuse of equipment or failure of the electricity, systems or software, communications or water services;
      • industrial disputes (whether or not involving our employees) or non-performance by suppliers or subcontractors.
      This does not include an inability to pay the amounts due under your contract for products or services with us (and nothing in these terms will relieve a party from an obligation to pay the other an amount due under a contract).

10.1. These terms are the only terms that will apply to the use of this portal. We will not be responsible for any statements, information, representations, warranties which are not expressly included in these terms.

10.2. The Islands Energy Group owns the copyright, trademarks and all other intellectual property rights contained in the content and materials on our website and portal.

10.3. We cannot be responsible for any third party websites which are linked to our websites.

10.4. You must not sell, licence, distribute or otherwise make available the content of our website. Nothing on our website or portal gives anyone a licence or right to use any of the content without our prior consent.

10.5. We are not responsible for anything arising from events beyond our control (including a Force Majeure Event).

10.6. These terms are a contract between you and us and are personal to you. You can't transfer any of your rights or responsibilities under these terms to another person without our prior written agreement. We can transfer all or any part of your contract to another company.

10.7. These terms do not alter or restrict any statutory rights which cannot be altered or restricted.

10.8. If you don't keep to these terms or conditions and we don't respond right away, that doesn't necessarily mean that we won't do anything about it later.

10.9. Where we send you any written communications or documents, we can send them by post to your last known address or by email to the address we have in your customer record. If we send them by post they’ll be considered to have been delivered to you 48 hours after we post them and for emails, when they are sent.

10.10. Each individual clause and subclause of these terms applies separately. If a court or other authority tells us we can't rely on a certain clause or subclause, the other clauses and subclauses will still apply.

10.11. No one other than you can claim rights or benefits under these terms, now or in the future and by law or otherwise. This does not apply to anyone who is expressly authorised under this contract to become a party or claim the rights or benefits.

10.12. This website and use of the portal is subject to the law of Guernsey and the jurisdiction of the Guernsey Courts. Any communication with this website shall be deemed to have taken place in Guernsey, irrespective of where the user may be physically located.

11.1. We will usually contact you through the contact details you have provided to us unless we believe them to be out of date and we find alternative details. In order to use this portal, you must provide a valid email address and we will use this as our first point of contact. If you change your email address, please update it in your account on this portal immediately.

11.2. If we need to send you any formal notice we will send it to the email address you provided us or we can send it by post to the address we hold on your account with us or any of our companies.

When we process any personal data, Islands Energy Group Limited is the Data Processor to the Data Controllers, Manx Gas Limited (trading as Isle of Man Energy), Jersey Gas Company (trading as Island Energy), Kosangas (Jersey) Limited, Guernsey Gas Limited (trading as Guernsey Energy) and Kosangas (Guernsey) Limited.

This is our privacy notice for home energy supply and support services. It explains your statutory rights and how we collect and use your personal data. It describes the data processing activities that are carried out by Islands Energy Group in relation to home energy supply and support services, the purposes for which these activities are performed and the legal bases that Islands Energy Group relies upon for these processing activities.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time to ensure it is always up to date and accurate. Any changes we may make to our privacy notice will be posted on this page, and we will communicate any significant changes to you.

Personal data we collect

We collect the following types of personal data:

  • Your contact details and the contact details of people associated with your account: Information that allows us to contact you directly such as your name, email address, telephone number and addresses associated with your account or order.
  • Account information and details of other people linked to your account: Information about your account including your login details for our customer portal, websites, date of birth, unique account number, contract details,
    household details, property type, nominees, executors, or people with a power of attorney and their details, or someone else set up to pay your bill, meter details, energy use and consumption pattern, tariff details, complaints details, incident details, appointment details, and notes added to your account.
  • Vulnerability information: Information that allows us to understand whether you are in a vulnerable situation.
  • Audio and video recordings, and contemporaneous notes: Recordings of telephone calls, records of site visits by our field operations teams and revenue protection teams.
  • Financial information: information that you provide that allows us to understand your creditworthiness and financial position.
  • Transaction and payment information: Bank account details you provide to make payment for the products and services you purchase from us. If you pay someone else’s bill, we will have a copy of your payment information. If someone else pays your bill, we will have a copy of their information linked with your account.
  • Account history and purchase history: Records relating to the products and services which you have purchased or used.
  • Responses to service improvement surveys: Including records of any surveys
  • Records of your discussions with our customer support teams, including call recordings, emails and chats made via our e-bill portal: When you share comments and opinions with us, ask us questions or make a complaint we will keep a record of this. This includes when you send us emails, phone our support team or contact us via our e-bill portal or through social media such as through Twitter or on Facebook.
  • How you use websites and e-bill portal: We use technology such as cookies (subject to your cookie preferences) when you use our websites or customer portal, we collect information about the pages you look at and how you use them.
  • Location information: Your smart device or computer's IP address may tell us an approximate location when you connect to our websites, but this will be no more precise than the city or country you are using your device in.
  • Device and machine information: Information about the computer hardware and software or on your smart device that is used to connect or communicate with us.
  • Exercising your rights: If you exercise any of your statutory rights under data protection law, we will keep a record of this and how we respond.

Websites and customer portal When you visit any of our websites or use our e-bill portal you will always be provided with access to the site’s or application’s privacy notice and cookie policy. Our aim is to ensure that our websites and mobile applications are always working optimally for those who use them.

When you visit our websites and you are not logged in i.e. you are an anonymous visitor, we may use cookies and similar technologies (in accordance with your cookie preferences) to track anonymously details such as response times, the pages you view and the functionality you use. No individual is uniquely identifiable from this data and it is used purely to enable us to constantly review and improve these services.
